I am Bill King and I am currently enrolled at the University of Arizona seeking a Master of Science professional degree in Educational Technology.
By way of back round, I am 67 years old and have done quite a few things during my brief sojourn here on Earth. In the 1970’s, after graduating from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, I attended the College of Business at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on Quantitative Systems. I was hired by Litton Corporation and for a brief period of time, I was computer programmer in what was an new and emerging industry. Floppy discs were just being introduced at that time. Later in the 70’s, I returned to ASU where I was admitted into the College of Law.
After receiving a Juris Doctorate in Law, I opened my own law practice and practiced in the areas of Domestic Relations, Wills and Trusts, small business, criminal defense and civil litigation until I retired in 2011. Having your own business takes a lot of time and at the time I decided to give it up, I had become accustomed to working 12-14 hours per day, nearly seven days per week.
After retiring, I enrolled in the College of Engineering at ASU and had intended to get a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. About three years ago, my wife and I moved from the Phoenix area to Sierra Vista, Arizona where we now live. Since then, I have tutored clients of the Arizona Department of Economic security and have, also, taught K-12 at a local charter school. In that capacity, I taught career explorations, music and math intervention. I am currently taking a respite from work.
In the last year, I have attended classes at Rio Salado Community College in Tempe, Arizona for the purposes of getting a teaching certificate and have in the just the past few weeks been admitted into the Educational Technology program at U of A. I am really excited about that because I have always enjoyed the creative aspects of communicating information. That was an important part of my law practice and is something that I have, also, introduced into my speeches at Toastmasters, an international organization devoted expressly to the purpose of improving and evaluation public speaking. I am a member of the Cochise County Chapter of Toastmasters. I highly recommend Toastmaster.
I could go on for a long time talking about myself. In summary, I am a life long learner who is curious about everything. BRING IT ON!!!!!! Those attributes are well born out in the Resume which I have posted on this site. That resume, and the life on which it is based, is a “Work in Progress”. This web page is, also, a work in progress and I will be adding to it continually to showcase my projects at the University of Arizona and, also, to share information on matters which are of particular interest to me. As you can see from my introduction and the resource page on this site devoted to the Singularity, I am a futurist.
My contact information is on the Contact page of this site. I enjoy the give and take of communication and I look forward to hearing from anyone with a similar disposition.
I am a really active member of Facebook. That is a great place to get to know a lot about me.
